[ Team Mom? check. resident nurse of the group? check. yep, clearly Cheria's the perfect candidate for this crisis that's happening with Pascal.
ok so she played nurse when Hubert was losing his lunch all over the place. that was expected and she did a pretty darn good job at keeping him as comfortable as possible, but at least then she sort of knew what to do without help. now? now she has no flipping idea what to do. so who better than to contact the one person who took part in a relief effort back on Ephinea? ]
Hey uhhh... Cheriaaa...? [ she sounds like someone who smashed a window while playing baseball in the front yard. ] We, uhh... we kiiiinda have a problem here.
[Not that Cheria enjoys these crises, but she does take some pleasure in the whole mom thing — preparing meals, kissing boo-boos better, that kind of thing. Making sure her family is happy and healthy and safe, especially in a place like Haven. There's just something really, really satisfying about being someone that people can rely on.
It's nice.]
Pascal...? [Right now, though, she sounds tired. Concerned, yes, but tired; like she expects there to actually be a smashed window somewhere or something.] What's wrong? Did something happen?
[ thankfully it's not a broken window... but even that would be better than what's going on right now. ]
Look, I-I know you probably got a lot goin' on right now, but I seriously don't know what to do. I literally tried every trick I could think of and zilch. Nada. I'm seriously stumped and I don't know who else would know 'bout this type'a stuff than you! Oh, and you have to promise — and I mean promise that you don't tell Asbel 'bout this unless we really, really need to!
[ because having Asbel panic over his little brother being comatose for no reason will just make the situation worse. regardless, at this point Pascal's rambling, which is something she'd only do in a fit of emotion: excitement, elation, or in this case, worry. please help her get to the point. ]
[And now Pascal has Cheria's full attention. She knows Pascal well enough to know that this sort of worried babbling, and an request to not tell Asbel (who she thought would be the first person to turn to, being their leader and just the sort of person who gets stuff done), means that something is seriously up right now.]
Pascal. It's all right, I won't tell Asbel. Just — listen, take a deep breath, and just tell me what happened, okay?
[ okay yeah, Cheria has a point. she needs to calm down and Cheria promised that she wouldn't tell Asbel, so that's one weight off her chest. Pascal finally intakes a breath — a large one — and exhales dramatically before getting to the point: ]
It's Hu.
It's waaay after lunchtime and he's not waking up for anything. I pretty much tried everything: shaking him, loud noises-- I even jumped on his bed a bit, and nothing! [ literally the only thing she hasn't tried is True Love's Kiss(c) ] Hu's a super light sleeper, yeah? He should'a woken up when I just called out t' him, but he's still snoozin' away! I checked if he was breathing, and he is so it's not like he's dead, but...
[ the thought of Hubert dying sends a cold chill through Pascal, and she's reminded of that one time Hyobu messed with a corpse to make her see Hubert's corpse. that wasn't fun at all. ]
[Cheria immediately jumps into action — there's no "oh no!" or any sort of lamenting Hubert's condition, just trying to fix whatever's wrong. That won't get anything done, and it certainly won't help with Pascal's state of mind.
And now she understands why Pascal made her promise not to tell Asbel, as much as she doesn't like it. Sending him into a panic over this isn't going to help anyone, even if it's something he really should know about.]
You're right, he's a very light sleeper. Even if he was just tired, you would have been able to wake him... [She furrows her eyebrows thoughtfully. This doesn't sound like any illness she's ever heard of.] Does he seem all right otherwise? How's his pulse, his temperature...?
[ there's a bit of fumbling as Pascal sets the phone down for a bit-- she's taking off one of her gloves so that she can properly feel any sort of change in temperature (because it's kind of hard doing that with thick fabric covering your hands. thank goodness she decided to call Cheria-- the only thing she really checked was whether or not he was breathing.
gingerly, she places a hand on Hubert's forehead for a minute, removing it when she considers it fine. the hand then moves to his neck, where the pulse should be-- it's a little strange to be touching his neck, since his uniform always has it covered... it stays there for a good minute as she counts beats before removing her hand from there and retrieving her phone. ]
He looks totally normal-- not pale, or red, or green, or anything. His temperature's fine-- normal, I guess. His pulse is a teensy bit slow, but that's normal when you're asleep, yeah?
